RHODE remain the only team with a 100% record and the only team guaranteed a place in the quarter-finals after the latest round of games in the Tullamore Court Hotel Senior Football Championship.
Rhode overcame defending champions Edenderry by five points in a typically entertaining local derby to reinforce their position at the top of Group 2.
Barring a very precise run of results, it looks as if they will be joined by both Edenderry and Tullamore.
Ferbane and Tubber currently prop up the group and if there is a winner when they go head to head this Friday, that team will join the other three in the last eight. A draw would keep both their hopes alive for now.
All six teams are still in the hunt for the quarter-final places from Group 1. With five points from three games, Clara look nailed on certainties to reach the last eight but behind them a real scrap is developing.
Despite losing their first three games, St Rynagh’s could still climb far enough up the table if they were to win their last two games starting this Saturday against Erin Rovers.
Rovers lost their first game of the campaign last weekend against Ballycumber and that drops them to fourth with Ballycumber moving up to third.
Gracefield’s win over Walsh Island also saw them move past Erin Rovers while Walsh Island are fifth in the table needing some positive results in the last two rounds to move back into the quarter-final places.
