THE talented Ferbane/Belmont Ballad Group and Na Fianna Instrumental Music Group will travel to Derry this weekend to participate in the All-Ireland Scór na nÓg Finals.
Offaly will be well represented with finalists in two of the eight categories at Saturday’s (February 23rd) eagerly anticipated event which will be staged at ‘The Venue’, Ebrington Square in Derry City.
The Ferbane/Belmont Ballad Group will be hoping to emulate last year’s great success as they strive to retain their All-Ireland title.
The Ferbane/Belmont group consists of Zoe Rooney, Valene Greer, Sarah Kenny, Avril Spain and Rosina Devery.
While the Na Fianna Instrumental Music Group will be hoping it is a case of third time lucky, as they have been pipped at the post the last two years.
The Na Fianna musicians are Cathal Brady, Helen Brady, Muireann Carton, Rachel Dunne and Ciaran Brennan.
As the Offaly standard bearers, Ferbane/Belmont and Na Fianna savoured Leinster Scór na nÓg glory before Christmas at Erin’s Isle in Dublin.
Reaching the All-Ireland Scór na nÓg Finals is a major achievement and Offaly GAA wish both groups every success as they perform at The Venue on Saturday, February 23rd.
