Following discussions at recent meeting the Executive Committee of the Club will be making a concerted effort to collect membership fees from the adult membership of the Club in the coming weeks. We currently have nearly 300 adult members on our book and 600 underage members. However we feel that we need to make a greater effort to push up both numbers and also to collect fees from every member annually.

Therefore expect a letter in the post or a call from a committee member and play your part by paying your fee. The rates for 2014 are as follows;

€80 – Family Membership (2 Adults and all children under 18)

€75 – Adult Player (€35 rate for student/unemployed)

€20 – Non-playing Adult

€30 – Youth Player (U8-U18)

€5 – Senior Citizen

By joining Edenderry GAA you become a members of the family of Gaelic Games and Culture in Edenderry, that includes Football, Hurling & Ladies Football.

Some facts about GAA membership that you may not know;

Once you join a GAA club, membership continues for life unless the person resign in writing or is expelled.

However the rights of any member is conditional upon the member paying their annual fee.

Only full members that pay their fee prior to 31st March 2014 will have voting rights at the 2014 AGM.

All members are registered in the GAA Database in Croke Park and have a unique ID

All players, team mentors, committee members and full members carrying out duties on behalf of the club are fully covered by the GAA insurance policy.

From 2014 all players at all levels must wear a mouth guard – a player can be sent off for not having a mouth guard and their insurance is null and void if they play without one.

The experience of Edenderry GAA in recent years was presented at the GAA’s National Coaching Conference in Croke Park on Saturday last. Over 800 delegates from around the Country attended to hear a variety of speakers that included Joe Brolly, Paudie Butler, John Allen and our own Chairman and Vice Chairman, Colm Cummins & Willie Forde.

The presentation by the Edenderry Club was very well received and sparked much interest from those in attendance. The theme for the Conference was “Inspiring Children: Fostering a Love of Gaelic Games”, with that in mind the focus of the Edenderry presentation was the benefit of implementing best practice coaching methods for children to ensure a FUN learning environment. This was explained by presenting the journey the club has travelled from traditional methods to embracing Go Games and the CÚL REDZ nursery programme. The full presentation is available on the new GAA Learning Portal

Our delegates had the pleasure of meeting the very impressive and comical Mr. Joe Brolly just before he made his key note address and he took time to pose for a picture with the lads.

The Club are currently selling €10 tickets as a fundraising venture. The prizes include trips to Australia, the US, Shopping Vouchers and a range of All Ireland Ticket packages. Please support this venture.

A very important reminder to all players at all levels in the Club – from 1st Jan 2014 all players must wear a mouth-guard in all official training sessions and games. A players insurance is null and void if he fails to wear a guard. The club expect 100% compliance.

Edenderry Ladies GAA indoor underage training season commences on Friday January 17thin St. Mary’s Secondary School Hall. Under 8 and 10 training will be from 5.00 to 6.00pm (girls born in 2004, 2005, 2006 and 2007) and Under 12 training will be from 6.00 to 7.00pm (girls born in 2002 and 2003). All girls are welcome to come along to participate and enjoy some physical activity and have some fun in a safe environment. A fee of €2 per session will apply for rent of the hall.

Please keep an eye on Facebook and the website for the announcement of an open meeting to encourage parents and coaches to get involved with the Bord na nÓg, Ladies Underage and Coaching & Games within the Club. With some exciting initiatives, including a revamp of CÚL REDZ in the pipeline it promises to be another year of exciting work and all the help the better.
