A goal midway through the first-half from wing-back David Boland and four unanswered points at the start of the second-half proved to be the pivotal score as St Brigid’s advanced to the semi-final of the Leinster Intermeidate Club Championship in very difficult conditions in Croghan last Sunday.
St Brigid’s 1-10
Killeshin (Laois) 0-9
With the rain getting ever heavier as the game progressed the Offaly side were the better side for much of the game but they had to hold off a late charge from Celebrity Bainisteoir finalists Killeshin.
St Brigid’s had to pick themselves up from the bitter disappointment of a defeat to parish rivals Rhode in the County Final but lead by fine displays from David Boland, Cian Donoghue, Bobby Troy and Ken Casey, St Brigid’s looked like a side who had put that defeat behind them and are now firmly focussed on the provincial campaign.
In the next round they will have a home game against the Wexford champions and if they perform to the same standard that they did for the majority of this game, they will be tough to beat.
