OFFALY proved too good for Laois in the final of the Leinster minor hurling league at O’Moore Park on Saturday evening rounding off an encouraging early season for the Faithful men.
First half goals from Jason Sampson and Darragh Cleary helped Offaly to a 2-7 to 0-4 lead at the break.
The Faithful County had dominated the opening 30 minutes but they were under the cosh after the break with Laois outscoring them by 0-8 to 0-3 but Offaly had built up enough of a lead to claim victory.
Laois had goal chances but some great goalkeeping by Kevin O’Connor in the Offaly goal denied them, and even when he was beaten full back Kealin Kiely was there to take the ball off the line and clear to safety.
Bouyed by this and previous wins, Offaly now have now four weeks to prepare for their first round clash away to Wexford.
