A scintillating start which yielded an unanswered 1-5 inside the first ten minutes, and a Damien Egan goal on the stroke of half-time sent the U-21 hurling championship title back to Shannonside for the first time since 2005.
St Rynagh’s Óg 2-16
St Brendan’s 1-12
It was an evening of hurling in the ‘rare old times’ enjoyed by young and old alike on Sunday evening, the beautifully presented St Brendan’s Park hosting the Final, and a huge crowd availed of the relatively short journey to Birr.
At half-time St Rynagh’s carried a 2-9 to 1-6 lead to the dressing-room and they were never threatened in the second-half as they cruised to a seven point win.
