Offaly GAA chairman Tom Parlon with Fianna Fail presidential hopeful Jim Gavin, Pat Teehan, Michael Duignan and Matt Connor in O'Connor Park in January
THE Offaly GAA County Board is currently €597,000 in the red on their year's activities. Treasurer Frank Fitzpatrick told delegates that this was the figure for nine months of their financial year which ends on September 30.
The figure, however, is not a cause for alarm as they were €580,000 down at the same stage last year but still managed to show a profit in their final accounts.
Mr Fitzpatrick is hopeful this will be the situation again, stating that they incur most of their expenses up to the end of June but their main sources of income only come in after that as the local championships build towards final stages. He urged clubs to make sure to collect gates properly to make sure their gates income hits projected figures. He revealed that all creditors are being paid as they fall due.

The Doon man also revealed that they have submitted all figures to Croke Park for an audit of every county's finances by the Revenue Commissioners. He said they haven't got feedback on this yet but the expectation is that every county will be hit with a liability, relating mainly to the way they pay expenses.
