COOLDERRY GAA club hosted a celebratory evening to mark the recent successes of Offaly hurling teams in the Leinster and All-Ireland Under 20 Championships and the Joe McDonagh Cup competition on Wednesday evening last.
The James Nowlan Cup (All-Ireland U-20), Sean Robbins Cup (Leinster U-20) and the Joe McDonagh Cup were all present on the evening and proved to be great attractions for the large group of children who attended with their parents and grandparents.
Coolderry’s three representatives on the Under 20 panel Eoin Burke, Ajay Cleary and Marc Ryan were joined for the evening by Ruairi Kelly (Lusmagh), another member of the successful team. Also in attendance was Paul Ryan (Coolderry) who was an important member of the backroom team with the Under 20s.
Coolderry’s David King and Stephen Corcoran, both members of the victorious Joe McDonagh Cup winning panel, were also present. Absent, but also mentioned, was selector Barry Teehan.
The large crowd were addressed on the night by club Chairman Brian Hensey and by former Offaly player and current Coolderry Senior team manager Brian Carroll and also by current Offaly and Coolderry player David King.
When the speeches were over many took the opportunity for a photo or two with the cups and adults and children alike enjoyed food and refreshments kindly supplied by the parents and organisers.
