PLAYER RATINGS: How the Offaly players fared in Joe McDonagh final win over Laois

OFFALY'S 2-23 to 0-26 win over Laois in the Joe McDonagh Cup final was a terrific result. On a day when some things went wrong and they lived on their wits, they showed great character to win. It was a day when not every player reached peak form but they dug deep all over the field and somehow found another gear to score the final three points when a devastating defeat looked imminent late on. Mark Troy - Mark Troy never put a foot wrong the whole day. He dealt capably with a lot of ball, made a great second half save from Patrick Purcell and nearly always found his man with his puckouts and clearances – Laois surprisingly conceding the puckouts and not pushing up to prevent short ones made life quite easy for Troy in this regard but he still had to hit the target. Rating – 8
