OFFALY'S 2-23 to 0-26 win over Laois in the Joe McDonagh Cup final was a terrific result. On a day when some things went wrong and they lived on their wits, they showed great character to win. It was a day when not every player reached peak form but they dug deep all over the field and somehow found another gear to score the final three points when a devastating defeat looked imminent late on. Mark Troy - Mark Troy never put a foot wrong the whole day. He dealt capably with a lot of ball, made a great second half save from Patrick Purcell and nearly always found his man with his puckouts and clearances – Laois surprisingly conceding the puckouts and not pushing up to prevent short ones made life quite easy for Troy in this regard but he still had to hit the target.
