Liam Hoare - A sensational game by the Carrig-Riverstown netminder. His saves when Kilkenny were on top kept Offaly alive, he also kept out a penalty and made an initial save before Kilkenny got their first goal. He dealt superbly with all types of ball and his accuracy with clearances and puckouts was deadly. My man of the match. Rating – 9
A powerful mixture of skill, pace, intensity, tenacity, resolve and perseverance saw Offaly have a thrilling 2-17 to 2-16 win over Kilkenny in the Leinster U-20 Hurling Championship semi-final on Wednesday evening.
It was a great extraordinary game as Offaly saw Kilkenny overturn a 1-9 to 0-7 deficit late in the first half into a 0-15 to 1-9 lead seven minutes into the second half. That run of eight points in a row could have broken lesser men but Offaly somehow responded, countering that with a run of 1-5 without reply and holding on for dear life.
