Hyundai may be reversing the way it is naming products, but one thing that is not in reverse is the company's sales drive.

The Korean brand sits a healthy fourth in the Irish sales league for 2015 with a strong 11,387 unit sales, or nearly 9.3% of the market.

The Hyundai name has grown in stature in recent years, and it is one of the fastest growing marques on the Irish market.

And with the latest arrival, the elegant Tucson, and more attractive models on the way, Hyundai are confident the sales graph figures will continue to go in just one direct.

Name change

Hyundai decided to chance changing the name of its popular mid-range crossover. Whereas in recent times were have been used to 'ix' in the name, the latest offering has returned to the original name, the Tucson, for a range which sits below the Santa Fe in the model line-up.

The Tucson is about much more than a name change, and it marks an absolute drive towards the swish end of the market by a company that is on the move big time.

The all new Hyundai Tucson arrived in Ireland in five trim levels - Tucson Comfort, Tucson Comfort Plus, Tucson Executive, Tucson Premium and Tucson Premium Plus.

The offerings across the range are - Comfort: 1.6 litre 2WD petrol version will retail from €25,245 and 1.7 litre 2WD diesel version from €26,995; Comfort Plus: 1.7 litre diesel 2WD €27,995; Executive: 1.7 litre diesel 2WD from € 29,995, 2.0 litre diesel 4WD manual from €35,495, 2.0 litre diesel 4WD automatic executive from €37,995; Premium: 1.7 litre diesel 2WD from €31,995; Premium Plus (available to order): 1.7 litre diesel 2WD from €35,995 (all prices ex-works).


The equipment levels on the Tucson are second to none. Specification on the Comfort range includes ISG, auto light control, 16" alloy wheels (Hankook tyres), tyre pressure monitoring system, key - folding with alarm, body coloured mirrors, electronic Convex mirror with heater function, front arm rest leather, rear armrest with drinks holder, height adjustable driver's seat, projection head lamp, LED DRL, manual levelling device head lamp, escort function head lamp, rear fog lamp, radio 3.5 Inch TFT LCD, steering wheel remote, USB + AUX, manual air conditioning, power outlet, cloth seat, luggage screen, Bluetooth with voice recognition, mud guards, spare wheel, leather steering and gear knob, roof rack, rear parking assist system and auto cruise control with speed limiter.
