The royal bachelor received an impressive half of all votes in a recent study conducted by the ‘Avonmore Big Picnic for Barretstown’ campaign, which aims to encourage families, schools and co-workers across the country to host a picnic this summer and raise much needed funds for Barretstown.

Second place went to Irish bad boy Colin Farrell with 18.2% of the vote. Sports stars also ranked highly amongst Irish women with both David Beckham and Tommy Bowe sought after to share a ham and cheese sandwich with.

Representing the females on the list Pussycat Doll and X Factor judge Nicole Scherzinger came out in front with 27% of the vote. Again we can see the influence of the Royal family and ‘that dress’ with Pippa Middleton coming in at second place along with reality TV star Kim Kardashian and Transformers actress and Victoria’s Secret model Rosie Huntington-Whiteley.

The results of the research also revealed that Glendalough, Wicklow came out on top for the best place in Ireland to have a picnic with a massive 43%. 39% of people would most like to picnic at the Grand Canyon and

The old reliable ham and cheese sandwich was voted the picnic food of choice for 31% of those surveyed.

So with the final few weeks of summer approaching, Avonmore wants you to get out there and have your picnic before it’s too late and raise money for one of Ireland’s worthiest causes, Barretstown.
