The latest affordable Dacia has landed. In just 16 months Dacia has launched its range of smart buy vehicles and now the Sandero Stepway crossover is here.
The Sandero Stepway crossover looks good and has all the style of a SU. Its raised ride height gives the driver a commanding view and its black wheel arch extensions, side sills and front and rear scuff plates make it every inch a robust SUV.
The Stepway has a choice of two frugal engines. The TCe 90 petrol engine generates an impressive 90bhp from 3-cylinders, yet achieves 5.4 l/100km. It offers smooth acceleration, using very-low-inertia turbocharger and variable valve timing technologies to deliver 90 bhp at 5,250 rpm and a torque of 135 Nm.
The TCe 90 enjoys low maintenance costs with improvements such as the timing chain, which is maintenance-free and has the same lifespan as the engine.
For cruising ability the dCi 90 turbo-diesel engine can achieve 4 l/100km and emits just 105g/km of CO2. The 1.5 dCi is widely renowned for reliability, performance and low environmental impact.
Torque is well-matched to its power, with 220 Nm on hand at 1,750 rpm. This means the 1.5 dCi responds briskly from very low revs, and minimises the need for repeated gear changes, especially in urban driving conditions.
This is achieved with fuel consumption figures among the lowest in its class, and correspondingly low environmental impact emitting just 105 g of CO2 per km.
There are two versions, the Alternative and Signature. Both benefit from a 3 year/100,00 warranty.
