It’s back to basics with an Irish twist for the Christmas top toy recommendations from Flemings Department Store, part of the leading Irish independent toy retailer group, Toymaster.
Toys and games that encourage interaction and role play, such as dolls, figures, games as well as the all-time favourite, Lego feature strongly, and, for the first time, rural Ireland has its say with farm toys making a significant appearance. The top toys for Christmas 2013 from Toymaster are:
• Transformers Cyberverse Vehicle
• Britains Farm Set
• Lego Galaxy Squad Star Slicer
• Silly Moo
• 30 Seconds
• Furby Boom
• Monster High 13 Wishes Haunt the Casbah
• Doc McStuffins Doctor’s Bag Set
• Pop & Play Elephant
• Rolly John Deere X-Trac with Loader
• The First Talking Sofia Doll & Animal Friends
• My Model Styling Head
All twelve toys and the Toymaster Christmas catalogue are now available from Kelly’s Toymaster, Tullamore.
According to Kelly’s Toymaster spokesperson, Ray Kelly the list of 12 items is an exciting mixture of new and revamped favourites to appeal to girls, boys and preschoolers. “Top toy lists at Christmas typically focus on a small number of flashy, big price-point toys. But with our experience and knowing our customers well, we are determined to provide parents, grandparents, aunties and uncles with a range of quality, realistic suggestions that will provide real value in terms of both price and play,” he said.
Reflective of the spread of Toymaster stores across the country farm toys are represented for the first time on a top toy list. A large livestock set complete with building, fencing, Friesian cattle, feeder, bales of hay and a family is perfect for starting your own farmyard, while the more boisterous will aspire to a sit-on John Deere pedal tractor complete with a front-loader with tipping digger bucket, which looks and feels just like the real thing.
Meanwhile a retro life-size model styling head will have aspiring fashion stylists totally made up, while younger girls will delight in the spook-tacular Monster High 13 Wishes dolls and love recreating favourite scenes from the popular Disney series with the talking, animal-loving Sofia Doll.
Christmas wouldn’t be Christmas without board games and families will be thrilled to see them featuring prominently in the shape of a new Irish edition of the quick thinking, fast talking game 30 Seconds and for the younger ones, Silly Moo, an ‘udderly’ funny game where you milk a cow to earn ‘pints’.
