The new Megane becomes the 11th Renault model to earn the top five-star rating. With a score of 37 points out of 37 in its Euro NCAP crash tests, Renault’s New Megane has achieved the joint highest-ever score, matching that of Qashqai, from sister company Nissan, last year.
The new Megane becomes the 11th Renault model to earn the top five-star rating. As a fundamental part of the car, its active and passive safety levels were developed from the outset to deliver new standards in its class.
To that end, it incorporates a long list of features from Renault extensive experience in this field, including:
Twin side-impact sensors, an innovation that debuted with Laguna III
Six airbags, including two twin-chamber thorax/groin airbags
The Renault System for Restraint and Protection, which combines pretensioners and load limiters with twin-stage dual-chamber adaptive front airbags
ABS and Emergency Brake Distribution come as standard, all versions also feature Electronic Stability Programme (ESP) with Anti-Skid Regulation (ASR) and additional understeer control.
Along with the top safety rating the new Renault Megane also has a more elegant and appealing look and has kept some of its distinctive features. Coming in the standard range of colours and trims, the Megane retains an edgy exterior with a sleek hatch and striking bonnet. With a sunroof and 17 inch alloy wheels as standard, this car certainly starts ticking the boxes.
The interior is decked out with leather trimmed seats. The digital speedometer is something that is very handy to Learner drivers to ensure they’re doing the correct speed and something about the re-design of the interior gives the Megane a sporty feel.
The boot provides a large storage space. Equipped with Bluetooth, 4 speakers and AUX input with USB connection, the Megane certainly has all the connectivity and music facilities.
The all important thing is the Megane provides a very comfortable and safe ride for all passengers. With ESP, ABS, dual, front, side and curtain airbags provide maximum safety. The Megane also boasts cruise control, automatic lights and wipers and rear parking sensors make driving the Megane that much easier.
The exterior is incredibly attractive and the Megane boasts many premium features as standard including the GPS and sunroof. However, Renault have a bit further to go in combining their superior exterior with their interior and ensuring the car is user friendly for all drivers.
With the Megane Renault have created a car that is moving leaps and bounds in the right direction.
