Congratulations to our indoor soccer team that consists of Michael Leogue, Colin Draper, Tom Gilligan, Ciaran Egan, James Finnegan, James Claffey and Sean Hanlon who took part in the Macra na Feirme National Indoor Soccer final in Gormanstown, Co Meath last Sunday (4/12/2017). The team made it the whole way to the semi final knockout round but unfortunately were beaten by a small margin. The lads did not only our club proud but the county and themselves too!
We would like to wish our chairperson, Nicholas Berry the best of luck this coming Friday (8/12/2017) as he represents the club and the county in the Macra na Feirme National Welding final in Bishopstown, Co Cork. No doubt he’ll do us all proud!
A massive well done to our club member, Chris Gethings who has been part of Moovember fundraising for Sophie, a baby girl who unfortunately has neuroblastoma from birth. For the past month, Chris, along with 9 others, has been growing a lovely beard all to raise money for Sophie and her family to help ease the financial cost of her treatment. On Saturday night, the beard came off but the fundraising doesn’t stop there. So far, they have raised €60,000 for Sophie but the GoFundMe page is still active and there is more fundraising being done! Again, congratulations to Chris for being part of something so worthwhile!
Our next club meeting takes place on Thursday, 7th December in the Bridge House Hotel, Tullamore at 9pm. Everyone is welcome to attend as we have lots to discuss including our Christmas Party which is taking place on Saturday, 30th December, more details to follow!
We have a full calendar planned for 2018 and would love to see some new faces! If interested in joining our club, contact Nicholas 086-1514297 or Trish 085-8494259.
Rahan Macra had a brilliant trip to Kilkenny last weekend to celebrate an early Christmas! Trips like this are a great reason to join Macra na Feirme and meet new people. We would like to thank everyone who came with us and we look forward to next years trip already!
