Proceeds from the major fundraiser at GVM Mart in Tullamore are presented to the Offaly School of Special Education

Offaly School of Special Education (OSSE)would like to extend its heartfelt gratitude to everyone who contributed to the charity auction held in support of the school’s ongoing efforts to provide essential resources and activities for its pupils.

The event, which took place at the local mart on Monday, March 3, was a resounding success, raising €19,124 from the sale of calves, with an additional €7,556.73 generated through donations and the bucket collection during the evening.

The funds raised will directly benefit the 42 students attending OSSE, which serves children from across Offaly. Currently, the school operates out of a temporary building, which lacks many of the basic resources and facilities that students need for a complete education. As a result, the school must travel outside for extracurricular activities, such as swimming and horse riding. These activities, while crucial for the students' development, can be costly, particularly as the school does not have its own transport.

The school are overwhelmed by the generosity and support of the farming community. Thanks to the incredible success of the auction, we are now able to continue offering extracurricular activities and invest in much-needed resources for our classrooms.

Nick and Katie Kearney, whose tireless efforts were instrumental in the success of the event, also deserve special mention for their dedication to the school and community. Without their time, effort, and unwavering commitment, this event would not have been such a tremendous success.

A huge thank you goes to all the farmers who generously donated calves, as well as to those who purchased them. Without their support, we would not have been able to raise such a significant and substantial amount. Their generosity has played a pivotal role in making the event a success and we are truly thankful for their involvement. A heartfelt thanks to anyone who contributed to the event through idonate.

Their dedication and hard work ensured everything ran smoothly and we appreciate their invaluable contribution

With the funds raised, Offaly School of Special Education is poised to enhance the educational experience of its students and ensure they have access to the necessary equipment and opportunities to thrive.
