Worrying reports of child in balaclava carrying knife in Offaly housing estate

There was major concern in Edenderry on Tuesday evening after a resident reported seeing a 'kid' in a balaclava carrying a knife around a local housing estate. 

A concerning post was published on the Edenderry Residents Facebook group suggesting a child had been spotted in the Churchview Heights area wearing a balaclava and carrying a knife.

The post, which appears to have been removed from the platform, questioned if the child's parents knew where he was and what he was up to.

Locals replying in the comments were shocked by the incident, urging the individual to contact local gardaí. 

When contacted by the Offaly Express, gardaí said they had no record of a report matching the above description on their system.
