'A total disgrace' - Anger and distress over dogs fouling on graves in Offaly town
There is widespread anger in Edenderry over dog owners allowing their pets to "leave a mess" on graves in St Mary's Cemetery in the town.
Fine Gael councillor Noel Cribbin issued an appeal to dog owners to be more mindful and respect a "no dogs allowed" rule in the graveyard.
He said: "An appeal to dog owners who persist in bringing their dogs in to St Mary’s Cemetery, please refrain from this exercise as dogs are leaving a mess on graves and it is very upsetting on loved ones to see this and to have to it clean up.
"Please show respect for those who are gone before us and for their families. There are signs up. No Dogs allowed, please respect it," he added.
Another local said it was "a fecking disgrace dogs running around loose in the cemetery."
