Crane driver caught over limit in Offaly morning after drinking

Tullamore District Court hears Edenderry man who was never in trouble before was stopped in his home town
A DRIVER found over the blood alcohol limit last year had been drinking the day before, Tullamore District Court was told.
Defending solicitor Marc Bairead said it was 11am when his client Enda Plunkett (54), St Teresa's Terrace, Edenderry was stopped.
Sergeant Brendan Kearns said a driver was seen in Edenderry on August 20, 2025 with no seat belt and the drink-driving offence was committed at St Mary's Street.
The alcohol level in Mr Plunkett's blood was 168 milligrammes, Judge Andrew Cody heard.
Entering a plea of guilty, Mr Bairead said the accused man had been drinking the day before and worked as a crane driver.
He was on his way to work at the time of the offence and would now lose his job.
Mr Bairead said Mr Plunkett had never been in trouble before.
Judge Cody imposed a three-year disqualification and a €100 fine.
