Black BMW inspected at Clonminch roundabout in Tullamore was being brought for full service, District Court is told

A BMW was found to have two bald front tyres after it was involved in a collision at a roundabout in Tullamore.

At Tullamore District Court, Alfred Tsurkan (30), Garrymore, Geashill, Tullamore, admitted to being the user of a vehicle with the bald tyres at the Clonminch roundabout on November 17 last year.

Mr Tsurkan appeared in court without a solicitor but was assisted by an interpreter who indicated that he was pleading guilty to two summonses.

Garda Alan Mills told the court he inspected a 2012 Dublin registered black BMW after a collision at the roundabout and told the owner Mr Tsurkan the tyres weren't maintained.

Garda Mills said the man's friend explained that to him and they got the vehicle towed away. The accused had no previous convictions.

Asked by Judge Andrew Cody why he was driving with two bald tyres, the man said he had bought the car and was driving it to get a full service.

Garda Mills said it had been bought five to six weeks before and Mr Tsurkan said he was waiting for the log book.

When the court was told the accused was a bricklayer, Judge Cody remarked that he could “afford a fine” and imposed a fine of €300.
