Landmark site in centre of Tullamore to be finally developed after planning permission granted
The former Texas site in Tullamore looks set to be finally redeveloped after planning approval was reportedly granted by Offaly County Council.
The news was shared by Offaly TD Barry Cowen on Monday evening.
He described it as a "major boost for Tullamore town centre," adding, "I am glad to be informed today of the decision by Offaly County Council to grant planning permission at the former Tesco/Texas site in the centre of Tullamore."
It will be a mixed-use commercial development including an extensive retail store, cafe, ancillary retail units and office accommodation. It will also provide ample car parking facilities.
"This development now offers a great opportunity to kick start the regeneration of a town centre site that has remained derelict for the last 15 years," Deputy Cowen said.
"The project as well as other recently announced investments in adjoining properties will be a much-needed boost for all businesses in the town," he added.
