Bring your play to life at festival of scriptwriting

Budding playwrights have just a couple of weeks left to get their entries in for Scripts, Ireland’s playwriting festival dedicated to new Irish plays, which runs from July 3 to July 9 in Birr, Co. Offaly.

Playwrights (both established and emerging) are invited to submit original 15 minute plays on the theme ‘Changes’ by Friday 8 April, 2016.

Plays will be chosen, by a selection panel headed by writer Eugene O'Brien, as the scripts most suited to development and performance at the headline event at Birr Theatre & Arts Centre.

Playwrights must be available to be in Birr from Sunday 3 July -Thursday 7 July as well as attend the performance on the final night.

Each play will be assigned a director and actors. The plays will be presented as staged readings at the headline event on Saturday July 9.

Playwrights can submit plays by email to or by post to Scripts Birr Theatre & Arts Centre, Oxmantown Hall, Birr, Co. Offaly.
