Tullamore Community Arts Centre draw sold out

The Tullamore Community Arts Centre Fundraising Draw Committee are ecstatic as there is not a ticket left in the 2,000 ticket members draw.

The Tullamore Community Arts Centre Fundraising Draw Committee are ecstatic as there is not a ticket left in the 2,000 ticket members draw.

The committee pushed hard in the last three months since the postponement of the draw over the Christmas period. “The decision to postpone the draw from Christmas ‘til now has paid off as we have more than 300 tickets sold since then which means €30,000 worth of fundraising money which will go towards the building of the long awaited arts centre,” explained a spokesperson.

“It has to be said in these times to reach this target and to get the backing of the people of the midlands has been an amazing achievement. A huge thanks to the people of the midlands and to the loyal Tullamore and Offaly people at home and abroad who have given generously towards the Arts Centre.

“The planning and organisation of such a mammoth draw needs the backing of a community leader with resilience and a clear vision of achieving all 2000 ticket sales. That accolade can only go to someone with more contacts than GOD herself, someone who can brush off the rejected calls and the turned eyes and heads of those who haven’t yet crossed his path to be asked a ‘wee favour’.

Paddy Fenning, worthy Offaly Person of the Year award winner, could relax on Saturday night with the 2000 ticket sales for the Arts Centre to add to his glowing resumé of life achievements.

“And behind every successful man is even a greater woman and his wife Catherine can now give a long sigh of relief that this draw is finally coming to a close. His committee wives of Mary Roche and Sheila McDermott too are owed a huge thanks for their commitment to the project and administering to the tickets.

“However, it is the passion of such silent leaders and lobbyist of the local government like Fionnuala Corrigan to whom we have to tip our proverbial hats. Their tireless work over the past 20 years has culminated in the vision of the arts centre which is nearing planning permission stages.

“The Fundraising Draw will take place next Friday March 30. The night itself is shaping up to be a celebration of the performing arts and will see all ticket buyers and the community invited to the Tullamore Court Hotel from 8pm on Friday night. The finishing touches are being made to the draw arrangements itself and all committee leaders and ticket sellers will be there to hand over the keys to the Nissan Quashqui.

“All is left is to say is good luck to those lucky ticket buyers for Friday night’s Draw and for those unlucky enough not to have had their tickets in, that there will be more fundraising events for the Arts Centre in the coming months which you can support.
