Portarlington Drama Society return to the Dunamaise Arts Centre later this month with their production of Comparisons; a play by Henry Madden and directed by Siobhan Byron McEvoy.
This play is set in Dublin in the 1960’s and is based on neighbouring families in working class Dublin.
Family dramas, the effects of redundancy and neighbourly rivalries are among the elements that unfold.
Lead actors are Cathal Smith, Rory Chadwick, Sinead Boland and Deirdre Norris, who is also set designer.
The sets were built by Portarlington Mens’ Shed group.
“Rehearsals are going great, we are rehearsing in Killenard Community Centre on Mondays and Thursdays from 8 to 10,” said Deirdre.
After their production the society will take a break and regroup in Autumn, with new members welcome.
“Anyone thinking of joining is welcome to come along to our rehearsals, maybe to give a hand with sets or make-up,” said Deirdre.
‘Comparisons’ will be staged on Thursday 29 & Friday 30 May at 8pm.
Tickets are available from the Dunamaise box office 057 8663355 or www.dunamaise.ie €15/€12/€10 for groups.
