Eagerly anticipated classical concert set for Charleville Castle

Ensemble Avalon, one of the most exciting classical music groups to have emerged from Ireland in recent years, will perform a concert of music by Bernstein, Mozart, Liszt and Beethoven in Charleville Castle on Wednesday, October 26 at 8 pm.

The Ensemble features three of our internationally accomplished soloists and chamber musicians, Ioana Petcu-Colan (violin), who has already performed in Tullamore, Gerald Peregrine (cello) and Michael McHale (piano). Michael McHale was the winner of the 2009 Terence Judd/Halle award, one of the UK’s most prestigious international awards for pianists.

The Trio have performed to critical acclaim in Ireland, the UK and Italy. Their debut CD, on RTE’s Lyric label, garnered universal praise at home and abroad. The reviewer of the prestigious Strad magazine described their “

‘sunlit playing as one of the highlights of mylistening year’.

Ensemble Avalon are Trio-in-Residence in Trinity College. Tickets for their eagerly-awaited concert in Charleville Castle are available from Heartbeat City (057-9341822) or from members of Tullamore Gramophone Society.
