New features for Shakefest 2012

New this year for Shakefest at Charleville Castle which takes place on Saturday May 26 will be Medieval Live History - Historical Combat Re-enactments of the Crusades as there are direct links to the castle they will also be providing a try-on armoury and archery and will be bringing authentic looking Medieval tents.

New this year for Shakefest at Charleville Castle which takes place on Saturday May 26 will be Medieval Live History - Historical Combat Re-enactments of the Crusades as there are direct links to the castle they will also be providing a try-on armoury and archery and will be bringing authentic looking Medieval tents.

Shakefest activities also include drop-in Djembe Drumming, Takeaway Poetry, Open Mic sessions as well as great peformances from Stagecraft Ireland Juggling and Stiltwalking, Punch and Judy puppet show, Magician, Giant Dragonfly hunt, Mad Hatter Tea Party, Fairy glen, Mountbolus Pipe band and award winning children’s dance recitals.

Our cultural highlight this year is Joana Saahirah of Cairo, she is a Master Oriental Dance Instructor who currently dances with an Orchestra in Cairo, Egypt and she will be conducting three different style Oriental dance workshops and as well she will be conducting a free Egyptian History and Folklore information session at 3pm on the Saturday for all to hear.

There will also be Multicultural Dance Recital, Fire show by The Red Embers and Babylon’s Inferno, and Swingin’ 40’s tunes by the Bugle Babes.
