Strictly Come Dancing trots into Tullamore

THE search is on to recruit dancers to participate in the first ever event of its kind in this area.

THE search is on to recruit dancers to participate in the first ever event of its kind in this area.

The event will be a fun evening of entertainment never seen before in Tullamore with a most unsuspecting group of people whom you would ever expect to see on stage let alone dancing on stage.

The Strictly Come Dancing event will take place in Tullamore Court Hotel on bank holiday Sunday October 30 and is a fund raiser for Tullamore Camogie and GAA club but will also benefit the very worthy organisation who work in the area of suicide prevention.

Following several months of planning and organising for this massive event by the organising committee the lucky dancers chosen to participate will undergo several weeks of training under the capable eye of Lorraine Wynne and Robyn Curran of Midland Drama School and will learn a group dance and also a solo dance with a partner. The interesting thing here is that the dancers do not know who their dancing partner will be until later on into the training sessions.

An announcement will be made on Friday September 9 as to who the lucky dancers are and following that the tickets will go on sale for the main event on the October 30. Tickets will be on sale soon and each ticket includes an audience voting card.

The extravaganza will be launched on Monday October 3 when the dancers will find out who their dancing partner will be. Such is the mix of personalities of the dancers we are in for a treat to see these volunteers strut their stuff on stage, as they may not have been picked for their dancing skills.

On the night of the main event, bank holiday Sunday October 30, there will be a panel of judges to review each performance and then give their comments before giving the couple their score.

There will also be audience voting on the night which will have an effect on the overall score for each couple. It will also be a night of glitz and glamour as our dancers will be in full costume and there may even be a prize for the most appropriately dressed couple.

There is a huge support for this event from the dancers, their families and friends, so much so that there is already a massive pre order of tickets in place before they have even been printed

Tickets will be available from all of the dancers and the committee.
