TULLAMORE’S Market Square will be awash in zombies this Saturday, October 29 for the second annual Thrill the World event in aid of the Carers Association.
TY Students from local schools got into the spirit of things last Friday when they participated in a photocall in the Bridge Centre to promote the event and to encourage more people to register to participate.
Last year 138 zombies took part in Market Square and this year for the first time there is a second venue in The Point Village, Dublin City Centre. Both events, in aid of the Carers Association are part of a global world record attempt for the most Zombies dancing to Michael Jackson’s “Thriller”.
Event co-ordinator Emma Murphy of the Carers Association is hoping that there will be at least 250 zombies in Tullamore this Saturday. The street party will start at 2pm with the record-attempt at 3pm. This is to give the participants the chance to rehearse.
Among the participants will be Showstoppers Stage School, Portarlington, Colaiste Choilm Transition Year and Sacred Heart School Transition Year students.
“All students in the local schools were invited to learn,” explains Emma. “There is still time to learn the dance at http://www.carersireland.com/Thrill-The-World.php and we’ll have rehearsals from 2pm on Saturday.”
Emma added her heartfelt thanks to Crystal Sound AV and Tracey McEvoy for donating their time and talents, and to Cosmic Bowl for prizes.
The bowling shoes worn by Michael Jackson when he visited Cosmic Bowl will also be on display on the day adding to public interest in the event.
Registration is free and you can still register now by going to the Carers Association website www.carersireland.com, all registrants will be given a sponsorship card.
