LAST Thursday is a day eight year old Siobhan Phelan will never forget. That was the day she received a call from none other than Michael Flately asking her to tour with his new show ‘Essence of Ireland’.
“She is the youngest member, they don’t usually take children,” explained her delighted mother Sinead. She said Siobhan was over the moon.
“It is better than anything, just brilliant,” enthused Sinead. She added that Michael Flatley said of the talented Irish dancer that it was “amazing how well she is doing.” Siobhan will begin her UK tour with the show on April 10 and will continue on into May also, accompanied by her father.
Siobhan moved to Walsh Island with her mother Sinead, father Reagan and brothers Kieran and Comghan from her native Manchester two years ago. Up until that point, Siobhan knew nothing of Irish dancing. Now however she has countless national titles, both in Ireland and the UK under her belt.
She shot to UK fame this year making it to the semi-finals of Sky 1’s ‘Got to Dance’.
Siobhan now dances for the ‘Devine Academy’ based in Dublin and loves to dance and said, “I can’t wait to dance in Essence of Ireland, I am so excited.”
Siobhan can be seen at the following venue’s - New Theatre Wimbledon, Pavilion Exmouth, Victoria Theatre Stoke on Trent, Empire Sunderland, Opera House Blackpool, Assembly Rooms Derby, Hexagon Reading, Capitol Horseham, Cliffs Pavilion -Southend and Chequer Mead East Grinstead.
Essence of Ireland’s Director, Ross Mills said, “We are delighted to have Siobhan on board. She is a fantastic dancer with a great personality and the cast and I look forward to working with her.”
