Colin Kenny with Nathan Carter at the Hot Country music awards earlier this year
Offaly's Colin Kenny has once again stormed the country music charts with his latest release, 'The Best Song of All Time.'
The track hit the #1 spot on the iTunes Irish Country chart, keeping global superstar Taylor Swift in second place. This is the Banagher man's second time to top the charts, having previously accomplished the feat with his debut single, a beautiful version of Keith Whitley's 'Don't Close Your Eyes.'
Making the moment all the sweeter this time for the man who's also well known for being a top gents hair-stylist in Borrisokane, is the fact he's done it with his own song.
"I've been writing bits and pieces for a while and the idea behind 'The Best Song of All Time' just stayed with me and kept pushing me to finish it off. I think the feeling in the song is something that's just very easy to relate to, because it's something that's pretty much true the world over if you think about it," Colin said.
"Everywhere you go people will have different songs that they love, and songs that are very special to them. And the point is that all of those songs - in their own ways - are the best songs of all time. So when I sing about 'the best song of all time', I'm singing about whatever song you love the most, but I'm also singing about whatever song that your mam or dad loves the most. It's a song for everyone."
Speaking about seeing his song rise up the charts, Colin said, "It was just amazing, it honestly was. I mean, anytime you release a song, you're nervous about what's going to happen because obviously you want people to like what they hear."
"But when you put out a song that's brand new, that nobody has ever heard before, and that you actually wrote yourself, well, let's just say you don't have the best sleep of your life the night before," he joked.
"But thankfully the reception has been brilliant so far, whenever I've performed it 'live', like up at the Hot Country Awards Concert the other week, and now chart-wise as well."
"It's been getting some great support on radio already too, which I'm really pleased about, and really thankful for, too. So thank-you, thank-you, thank-you to everyone who made it happen," the Banagher native concluded.
'The Best Song of All Time', the latest #1 from Colin Kenny, is now available to request from your favourite local radio station.
