WIN: Tullamore Musical Society bring 90s hit 'Sister Act' to the stage
Tullamore Musical Society have enjoyed huge success with their recent shows; winning Best Overall Show in 2016 for Witches of Eastwick and Best Chorus and 3rd Best Overall Show for their production of Sweeney Todd in 2017, so it comes as no surprise that audience members are dying to get their hands on tickets for Sister Act.
Sister Act is a celebration of friendships and a fabulous reason to rejoice in the lively music made famous in the 1992 film starring Whoopi Goldberg, and the cast and committee of the award winning Tullamore Society are excited to invite you to this their 63rd production.
Under the guidance of their talented production team Paul Norton - Award Winning Director, Graham Finnerty - Choreographer, Shane Farrell - Award Winning Musical Director and Chorus Master Enda O' Connor, TMS bring you a divine musical comedy based on the the hit 1992 film.
This musical will have the cast of TMS rocking out the pews from February 10 until February 17. Featuring original music by Tony and eight-time Oscar winner, Alan Menken, this uplifting musical was nominated for five Tony Awards, including Best Musical.
The show features a large cast from the midlands with some of your favourite TMS regulars taking to the stage including the return of Karen Martin who plays the leading role of Deloris Van Cartier. Karen has played many leading roles throughout the years and has been awarded Best Comedienne twice by AIMS for her roles with Tullamore Musical Society.
When disco diva, Deloris Van Cartier, witnesses a murder, she is put in protective custody in the one place the cops are sure she won't be a found: a convent. Disguised as a nun, Deloris finds herself at odds with both the rigid lifestyle of the convent and the uptight Mother Superior.
Using her unique disco moves and singing talent to inspire the choir, Deloris breathes new life into the church and community but, in doing so, blows her cover. Soon, the gang is giving chase, only to find themselves up against Deloris and the power of her newly found sisterhood. A sparkling tribute to the universal power of friendship, Sister Act is a great reason to REJOICE!
Karen is joined on stage with some of the finest talent in the midlands including Mullingar native Chris Corroon who is fresh off the stage in The Helix Panto where he played the title role of The Beast for their professional production of Beauty and The Beast, Joan White from Portlaoise who plays the role of Mother Superior and Tomás Glynn who plays the role of Curtis.
Local Midlands 103 presenter Jim Smyth is also back on the stage to play the role of the Monsignour O'Hara and he is joined by Gráinne Donoghue from Ballycumber who plays the role of Sister Mary Roberts, Athlone's Linda Murray playing Sister Mary Patrick and TMS president Aoife Fitzsimons who will take on the role of Sister Mary Lazarus. The cast is full of local talent and the remainder of the roles are taken up by the talented cast who won Best Chorus 2017 for the society's production of Sweeney Todd.
