Offaly singer performs in renowned country music venue
The Allingham Arms Hotel in Bundoran is one of the most famous country music venues in Ireland, having played host to virtually every big-name in the business in recent years. Nathan Carter, Mike Denver, Lisa McHugh, Derek Ryan, Philomena Begley and Robert Mizzell.
They've all entertained music lovers in the Donegal town, and last weekend a new name was added to the list, as young Offaly man Alex Roe, one of the country music scene's rising stars, gave his debut performance at the Allingham. The Clara native certainly made an impression, keeping the dancefloor full all night long.
"It was a brilliant first night up there, I couldn't be happier, to be honest," revealed the singer who first shot to attention last year when his first two singles, 'All I Need Is You' and 'We'll Walk Hand In Hand' (both originals) went to #1 on the Irish iTunes country chart.
"The Allingham is one of the best known venues in the country, so I was delighted to have the opportunity to perform there for the first time. I was thrilled when the invitation came my way. The social dancing scene is huge right now, and it's that way because it's a lot of fun for people who come out to the dances," Alex commented.
"I have to say it's a lot of fun for me as a performer, too. There's usually a great energy going on and everybody just wants to enjoy themselves. Hopefully I'll be back in Bundoran again soon, and we'll have another great night at the Allingham!"
