Legendary Offaly singer Johnny McEvoy was interviewed on RTE's Today Show with Dáithí Ó Sé and Sinead Kennedy on Tuesday, March 11.
The show is this week celebrating 'living legends' with the likes of Bryan Dobson and Ronnie Whelan also on the bill for the daily magazine programme which airs weekday afternoons.
Born in Banagher in 1945, Johnny McEvoy has enjoyed huge success as one of the defining voices of Irish folk music, achieving four number one singles during a career in music spanning over sixty years to date. He is on tour around the country again this month, hitting venues in Sligo, Roscommon, Kerry, Cork and Newry.
He spoke about his long career on the Today Show and you can watch the interview back on the RTE Player.
Fans were delighted to see him on the sofa and looking so well. One person commented: "It was a lovely interview with Johnny McEvoy and wishing him a very happy birthday."

Another wrote: "Johnny looks fantastic...Lovely to see him on the show. I remember when there was a programme on TV years ago, some of it filmed on Haulbowline Island with Johnny singing, also on The D.O.D Launch. He never ages."
A third added: "Never forget my first memory of hearing Johnny, my mother (god rest her) loved music and around 1968 or 70 bought a record player and our first record was Muirsheen Durkin, she had us as children dancing around the kitchen, the sound of that beautiful gentle voice never left me."
