Offaly band sign record deal and release new single

CHAS

Chasing Abbey from Tullamore

WHEN Irish dance-pop trio  Chasing Abbey  teased a 30-second clip of their new track (and brand new sound) -  Oh My Johnny (Banks of the Roses) -  on Tik-Tok in May, it quickly went viral, racking up millions of views (#1 Irish Soundcloud Chart, #1 Irish YouTube Trending Chart, 8 million views & 3k+ creations on TikTok, 3 million views on Instagram) and piquing the interest of record labels across the globe.

To the Irish ear,  Oh My Johnny  sounds at once familiar and completely fresh. The track is a reimagining of an 18th century Irish folk song  Banks Of The Roses  and sets warm vocals to an intoxicating house beat that bounds into your chest and doesn’t let go For Chasing Abbey, three multi-instrumentalists firmly rooted in the Irish trad scene,  Oh My Johnny  is both a return to those roots and the dawning of a new era - as well as the launch of a brand-new style of music, dubbed Trad House by Ro, Bee, and Teddy C.

The trio explains,  “We’re delighted to have signed with Spinnin’ Records and Warner Music Ireland. We grew up as trad musicians, playing with our families in various trad bands over the years. To now be able to bring that musicianship to a Chasing Abbey style of production and rework these timeless Irish songs without any sampling is a dream. We can’t wait to pioneer this brand-new genre that we’re calling ‘Trad House whereby we play all the trad instruments you hear in the tracks, mixed with house dance beats and we’re delighted that Spinnin’ Records can see our vision too”

No strangers to viral success, Chasing Abbey exploded onto the Irish music scene in 2016, with singles  That Good Thing  and  Talk To Me  achieving millions of streams and scoring the band a household name status in Ireland. Known for their electrifying live performances, Chasing Abbey sold out their debut tour; have supported superstars including The Chainsmokers, Rita Ora, Zara Larsson, Martin Garrix, and Enrique Iglesias; and have toured the festival scene internationally, most recently returning from a headline performance in Vancouver.

An instant crowd pleaser, the track has inspired countless Reels and TikToks from its fans on social media and popular demand has already seen bootleg downloads of  Oh My Johnny  being played at club nights up and down the country.

Chasing Abbey burst onto the Irish music scene in 2016 with their explosive debut  That Good Thing.  The track topped the iTunes download chart in Ireland, was the most Shazamed song in the country, went on to win RTÉ’s Choice Music Prize for Song of the Year, and secured the band a global record deal with 3 Beat UK and Universal Music Group.

Childhood friends Ro, Bee, and Teddy C are multi-instrumentalists and producers working out of their studio, Penthouse Productions, in Tullamore. Chasing Abbey’s infectious stage charisma and unwavering sense of fun guarantees an unparalleled live experience.

BILLIE EILISH PREPS FOR THE 'PICNIC' WITH SINGLE FROM  BARBIE  SOUNDTRACK

Oscar, Golden Globe and multiple Grammy Award winning  Billie Eilish  has released  'What Was I Made For?'  (Darkroom/Interscope Records), taken from the highly anticipated feature-length film,  Barbie,  written and directed by Greta Gerwig, starring Margot Robbie and Ryan Gosling as Barbie and Ken, and distributed by Warner Bros. Pictures.

What Was I Made For?  was composed especially for  Barbie  by Billie Eilish alongside her brother FINNEAS who produced the track at his home-studio in Los Angeles. The intimate and heart-rending track exists as the sonic background for pivotal scenes through-out the film, while beautifully and poignantly highlighting the film’s important message and sentiment.

The track also comes with an official music video, directed by Eilish. The video made its broadcast premiere on MTV Live, MTVU, MTV Biggest Pop and on the Paramount Times Square billboards. On making the song and music video, Eilish shared to her fans  “to be real with you this all seemed to happen in a time when i really needed it. i’m so so thankful for that.”

What Was I Made For?  will also be released as part of  Barbie the Album, the groundbreaking and star-studded musical companion to Barbie. The soundtrack was executive produced by Academy, Golden Globe and 7X Grammy Award winning artist and producer Mark Ronson and Barbie writer/director/executive producer Greta Gerwig. Fast forward from her humble breakout, her album  When We All Fall Asleep, Where Do We Go?  also debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard 200 in the U.S as well as seventeen additional countries around the world upon release in 2019 and was the most streamed album of that year. Both albums were critically acclaimed worldwide and were written, produced and recorded entirely by Billie Eilish and brother FINNEAS.

Eilish has made history as the youngest artist to receive nominations and win in all the major categories at the 62nd GRAMMY Awards, receiving an award for  Best New Artist, Album of the Year, Record of the Year, Song of the Year,  and  Best Pop Vocal Album, and is also the youngest artist to write and record an official James Bond theme song,  No Time To Die, which won an Academy Award for  Best Song  that year.

BROTHERS OSBORNE PLAN SELF-TITLED LP FOR SEPTEMBER

GRAMMY-winning duo  Brothers Osborne  have announced the upcoming release of  Brothers Osborne, their self-titled fourth studio album, available September 15th via EMI Records Nashville.  Brothers Osborne  is available for pre-order in all formats, as the duo share an additional track, “Sun Ain’t Even Gone Down Yet,” available now.

TJ Osborne shares,  “We’ve always had a lot of mystery intentionally around the things we have done, but with this album, we decided to be all in. And doing that reminded me of what it was like when I first started playing music, when it was an outlet for my angst or just a way to have fun.”

John adds  “Since our last record, we’ve been very forthcoming with who we are. By acknowledging TJ’s personal life and my mental-health struggles, we are more ourselves creatively and publicly than we’ve ever been.”

For their self-titled release, the brothers enlisted Mike Elizondo (Sheryl Crow, Turnstile, Dr. Dre, Twenty One Pilots, Lin-Manual Miranda) to produce, entrusting him with curating his own band of studio musicians, including Paul McCartney’s drummer Abe Laboriel Jr. behind the kit. Miranda Lambert provides the LP’s sole guest vocals on  We Ain’t Good at Breaking Up, after co-writing the song with Brothers Osborne and Jesse Frasure.

The brothers co-wrote every song on the album, including their chart-climbing current single  Nobody’s Nobody, penned with Elizondo and Kendell Marvel, capturing a message of inclusion and acceptance.

Brothers Osborne will celebrate the release with four newly announced US tour dates in October, performing in New York City, Los Angeles, Washington D.C., and Nashville. The duo shares, “These four shows will be very special and all will be different, showcasing music from our new album, and of course some of your old favorites.”

Brothers Osborne are one of music’s most consistently adventurous bands, a duo connected by not just blood, but also a lifetime of performing together, and a shared working-class upbringing in Deale, Maryland. The reigning CMA and ACM Duo of the Year winners are leaders of a progressive and still classic school of country music, and the faces of the new generation of Nashville.

Anchored by TJ’s baritone and John’s guitar, every one of the album’s eleven tracks are distinctly Brothers Osborne songs – the album is also their most musically diverse yet, along with a new producer’s direction, it features synthesizers, and a piano ballad.

“We are always pushing ourselves, always evolving and not afraid to change,”  John says.  “But at the end of the day, we are also who we are.”

“This is a defining record at this point in our career, where we needed to put it all on our shoulders,”  TJ says.  “And we did. Like it was when we were growing up, it’s just John and me.”

The siblings took home their first GRAMMY in 2022, winning  Best Country Duo/Group Performance  for their song  Younger Me, inspired by TJ's recent coming out. The song is featured on the deluxe version of their GRAMMY-nominated album,  Skeletons.  The band has been nominated for ten GRAMMYs in total, standing as five-time CMA  Vocal Duo of the Year, and are four-time ACM  Duo of the Year.  Overall, they have collected six CMA awards, seven ACM trophies and received the ASCAP Vanguard Award in 2019.

Their critically acclaimed hit songs have tallied multiple RIAA Gold and Platinum certifications, while surpassing more than 2.7 Billion global streams. Previously sharing the bill with Chris Stapleton, Eric Church, Little Big Town and Miranda Lambert, Brothers Osborne’s latest headlining  We’re Not For Everyone Tour  hit more than fifty markets.

Last fall, John Osborne produced  Ashley McBryde Presents: Lindeville,  and Brothers Osborne contributed the song  Play Ball. They wrapped 2022 with a limited-edition collaboration with WhistlePig Whiskey, launching the WhistlePig PiggyBack Legends Series: Brothers Osborne Barrel.
