The 2018 Fota Island Resort Gaynor Tournament concluded on Sunday afternoon with two entertaining Cup finals, both of which brought ultimate disappointment to the Midlands League teams.

The Midlanders had both plotted paths to the deciders and under glorious sunshine, they came out the wrong side of two closely fought games.

The Midlands team were narrowly beaten in the the Jeremy Dee Cup final in the U16 competition by the Galway and District League.

The Galway outfit collected the cup for the second time in three years after a 2-1 win where a Katelyn Keogh goal for the Midlands team wasn't enough to cancel out Anna Fahey's brace.

Also on Sunday, the Under-14 Gaynor Cup went to the Kilkenny League at the expense of the Midlands League. A goal from Player of the Match Ellen Molloy proved decisive for the Marble city in a 1-0 win.
