Offaly 2-7

Wexford 3-12

The Offaly U16s fought hard but ultimately lost out by eight points to a classy Wexford outfit in their Leinster Shield final last Sunday afternoon in Portlaoise.

During a game played in glorious sunshine, Wexford were quicker off the mark, racking up seven points in the opening half to Offaly's single white flag.

That was an unenviable task for the Faithful ladies but they did rally hard in the second half. Birr’s Ellen Regan gave a great display which eventually earned her the player of the match award despite the defeat.

Their 2-6 tally in the second half might have been enough to regain the deficit but Wexford netted three times in the second period, sealing an emphatic win.

The game finished on a 3-12 to 2-7 scoreline in favour of Wexford.
