Offaly woman honoured at Irish Wind Industry Awards

The Offaly woman behind the successful Community Engagement programme at Bord na Móna Powergen’s Mountlucas wind farm in Offaly has been crowned Champion of Renewables and the Overall Winner at the inaugural Irish Wind Industry Awards.

Catherine Swaine picked up her awards at the ceremony, organised by the Irish Wind Energy Association, which celebrated the most original and innovative individuals and companies demonstrating excellence in their fields across the Irish wind energy sector.

The awards honour the people, organisations and communities going above and beyond to shape the future of the industry.

Both awards recognise the outstanding work Catherine has carried out in championing wind energy through presentations and tours to over 14,000 people since 2015. Catherine was also commended for in work in enhancing the amenities including the Learning Hub installed in 2017.

"Over 100,000 people have visited the wind farm in recent years and everyone would have seen the impact that Catherine has had in showcasing wind energy and the Bord na Móna story," a BNM statement said

"Congratulations to Catherine on this fantastic achievement and for her role in the ongoing success of the community engagement programme in Mountlucas."
