Tullamore sprinter on top of the world
THE 2010 WMA World Masters Indoor Athletics Championships were held in beautiful Kamloops, British Columbia, Canada from March 1 to 6 and the event proved to be a huge personal trriumph for Tullamore Harriers athlete Ger Hensey who secured a silver medal.
Ger represented the Harriers and Ireland, in V2 60m and 400m.
Ger won his 60m heat (7.31sec) and his semi-final (7.29), both of which were personal bests to progress to the final on Tuesday.
His competition was stiff with Reggie Pendland from USA also in the final.
Ger claimed a superb silver in the V2 60m in a time of 7.33 seconds.
The final was won by American Reggie Pendland with Britain's Will J MacGee coming home in third.

The siver medal was just reward for Ger's hard work and training. Well done Ger!
It was the first time the WMA Indoor Championships were held in North America, and more than 2,000 athletes competed in a full range of track and field disciplines.
There was a broad international representation of athletes competing, including ex-Olympians.
