THREE drop goals from three different players in the second-half were the all important scores as Tullamore deservedly claimed their second All Ireland Junior Cup title in Dubarry Park on Saturday.

Tullamore 9

Monivea 3

While the final scoreline suggests a close, hard fought, defensive battle, Tullamore were much the better team on the day and should have won by a considerably greater margin.

They dominated in terms of territory and possession over the 80 minutes but despite being camped on the Monivea line for large periods, particularly in the first-half, they didn’t manage to score a try that would have put the game away long before the final whistle.

The drop goals came in quick succession after half-time with Colin Draper, Aaron Deverell and David Clavin all finding the target
