Tullamore U-19s are putting the final preparations in place for the Darcy Cup on the Bank Holiday Monday, May 7 with a 4pm kick-off..

This is Tullamore’s first appearnace in the final and their opponents in Donnybrook will be Naas. This a fairly new Competition and this will be the third final.

Tullamore go into this match full of confidence having beaten a Gorey side in the demi-final who won the Leinster Premier League in March. Most of the Tullamore players have won Leinster U-17 Culliton Cup medals two years in a brillant final against Co Carlow.

Three of the team, Cian Byrne, Leon Martin and Peter Connolly have played for the Leinster Youths U-18 team in 2011 and that experiance will be beneficial to the lads on Monday. Like the U-17 side of 2010, Johnny Brophy will again be captain.

Of course the other link with 2010 are the same team management. Pat Tierney, Denis Magner and Paul Cutler coach the team and the managers are Gerry and Martina Cahill.

In the 1st Round Tullamore travelled to Navan and won 20-12. That was followed by another away win in Barnhall 17-8. Clondalkin were beaten 47-14 in the Quarter Final and the Semi-Final in Athy against Gorey was a tight affair with a 9-5 win.

These lads are winners and the club are confident that they will win on Monday next. They do need support and the Executive of the Club urge all members of the club, friends and family to travel on the day.
