Portarlington Rugby Club was transformed last weekend, the busiest weekend in their 38 year history, as the club hosted their biggest ever annual dinner dance on Saturday night followed by The Provincial Towns Cup Final between Tullow and Enniscorthy on Sunday.

On Saturday night over 200 members and guests packed an exquisitely decorated marquee for a buffet meal served by chef Morgan Hennessy and his staff. The meal was followed by the annual awards ceremony which was conduced by a very proud President, Breda Oakley.

The winners of the awards on the night were Ronan Mannion (Senior Player of the Year), Adrian Murphy (Second Team Player of the Year), Martina Russell (Ladies Player of the Year), Pádraig Mahon (Youths Coach of the Year), Barry Lambkin (Minis Coach of the Year) and Paul Mannion (Club Member of the Year). President Breda was also presented with a huge bouquet of flowers on behalf of the members for the wonderful commitment that she has given to the club throughout the year. The focus then moved to the clubhouse where DJ Peter McEvoy’s disco had them dancing until the small hours!
