Killeigh Community Games back in action
Killeigh Community Games Boys U-15 - Offaly Runners up,
The Killeigh Community Games calander of events kicked off for 2012 with the indoor soccer.
The indoor soccer U-13 and U-15 area finals were held in Ferbane over the last two weekends. Killeigh entered a girls U-15 team and a boys U-13 and U-15 team. The Killeigh U-15 girls became the Offaly Champions on the day and will go into the next round to face Laois or Westmeath.
The boys tournament went ahead despite the bad weather with the rain not stopping all day. The Killeigh U-15 boys were runners up to Brosna on the day. The U-13 boys from Killeigh had the most matches to play but came through the rounds against stiff competition to win the tournament and earn the place to represent Offaly in the next round. Killeigh now represent Offaly in the girls U- 15 and boys U-13 indoor soccer.
The Killeigh parish are hoping to take part in the following events this year and invite parents who wish to be involved to contact us. Handwriting, hurling, GAA, rugby (new event for the parish), athletics, swimming, soccer (outdoor), gymnastics. There are lots of other disciplines that children can take part in, so please look on the community games web site and if you can help to run an event, please let us know.
The indoor athletics training will start back in Geashill parish hall on Tuesday, February 14 for six weeks. Ages 6 to 9 is from 6 -7pm and ages 10-15 is from 7 – 8pm.

The U-10 handwriting competition will be run in the coming weeks. The initial entries will be done in some of the schools and where a school is not involved, the children can enter after school in a location to be advised. Please keep an eye on parish bulletin for update or contact a committee member for further details.
