CCFL side through to last eight of FAI Junior Cup

CCFL Senior Division side Willow Park have progressed to the last eight of the prestigious FAI Umbro Junior Cup thanks to a superb 2-0 win away to Leeside in Cork last weekend.

The Athlone side's reward is a home quarter-final this weekend against Clonmel Town who were 4-2 winners away to Killarney. Clonmel knocked out holders Ballymun in a previous round.

Willow are following in the footsteps of fellow Athlone side St Peter's who went all the way to the final of the competition last year before losing out to Ballymun United. Coincidentally, St Peter's met Clonmel en route to the decider registering a 4-2 win at the semi-final stage.

Willow Park knocked St Peter's out in the First Round of this year's competition.

Also through to the last eight are St Michael's of the Tipperary and Southern District League who had a fine 1-0 win over Cup favourites Carrick Utd.

The only all Dublin tie in the last 16 saw AUL side Shangan Athletic beat Leinster Senior League side Glebe North 4-1. In the other ties Fairview Rangers had a narrow 1-0 win over Crumlin Utd while Kilmallock from

Limerick beat Kerry side Castleisland 1-0. Pike Rovers had a 3-1 win over Springfield FC while Regional Utd ended Ballynanty Rovers' interest in the competition with a 2-1 win.

The competition is the biggest Cup competition in Ireland and is one of the biggest in Europe.

Quarter Final Draw: Willow Park v Clonmel Town; Regional Utd v Shangan Ath; Fairview Rgs v Kilmallock FC; St Michaels v Pike Rovers
