Strong showing from Tullamore boys

Tullamore Boys U-18, U-16 and U-12s were all in action last weekend.

The U-18 boys travelled to Naas to take on the home side. After a slow start they had worn down the Naas team by the middle of the third quarter to win 46-31. They had strong performances from Seamus Allen, Christopher Todd, Kasper Skura and Declan Byrne.

In the second game of the day they defeated Kildare Gliders 62-29. In this game the boys started strongly and were nine points ahead at the end of the first quarter. The kept the lead from then on to run out comfortable winners. 62 points was a very commendable total to run up. Darragh Fogarty, Jack Dunne and Declan Byrne performed well. Declan’s 23 points in game two earned him the days MVP title.

The U-16s defeated Naas 31-11 before going under to Portlaoise 31-58.

The U-12 boys were in Athlone on Sunday where they gave their best performance of the year in defeatind a skillful gliders team 16-10. Cian Rice got the team off to a good start with a made free throw. Owen Jack (3) Cormac Izuchuckwu (6 )and Oisin Rice (6) completed the scoring.

Ciaran Farrell, in his first game, played well along with Cormac Izuchuckwu, Cian and Oisin Rice. In their second game Kestrels proved too strong nevertheless the boys keep improving with each game they play. Sean Courtney and Owen Jack impressed in this game.

U-10 girls academy

The club will run an introductory basketball session next Saturday in the SHS gym from 12 midday to 1.15pm for girls born in 2002, 2003 or 2004 who are in 2nd or 3rd class. The coaching session is free so please come along if your daughter would like to try it out. Notice will be sent out to the schools also.
