Sean Donegan wins Peter English 625

The annual Peter English race took place on Thursday last in unseasonal cool and windy conditions. The race is exactly one lap of the tarmac track and on the night three separate contests were run. 1st race were the ladies with Sinead Rigney powering across the line in a time of 1.57 mins. In her persuit was Michelle Mullaney and 3rd was Mary Bracken.

Next race was the Senior Men. Here Sean Donegan made light work of the 625 meters finishing in 1.41mins posting the fastest time overall. Ever improving Pauric Sweeney was 2nd and Dean Claffey 3rd.

The final run of the night was the Masters Men and Catch Grennan was a clear winner in 1.42mins. Christy Donegan was in 2nd place until the final 200 meters. Liam Byrne steadily closed the gap and passed Christy with 100m to go making an exciting finish to this event.

Mullingar Road League

The final leg of the Mullingar Road League took place on Wednesday last. Over 800 runners registered for this series which was held on the 5 Wednesdays in May. Prizes are awarded on the athletes best three times over the 5 races. Jim Langan was our only prize winner in this very competitive event with 3rd place in o65 catagory. His time for the last race was 25.09. Jody O’Reilly 18.10. Andy O’Grady 22.03.

BUSINESS HOUSES SERIES

John Todd competed in Government Services promoted 5 mile race in Dunboyne on Tuesday 29th May. He ran a fine race to finish in 30.38 mins on this hot summer evening. He was 81st out of over 400 runners and won his age group.
