A third round of one over par 73 saw Shane Lowry drop down the leaderboard at the Omega Dubai Desert Classic.

The Offaly golfer went into the round in a tie for 18th place but a round with three birdies, two bogies and a double bogey on the ninth saw him drop back to 37th going into the final round.

Lee Westwood has stormed into the lead after a five under par 67 left him on -15 for the tournament. The World Number 3 is one shot ahead of Scotland’s Stephen Gallacher, Germany’s Marcel Siem and Spain’s Rafael Cabrera-Bello.

Rory McIlroy was the leader going into round three but he is now two off the lead after a level par 72.
