Eoghan Phelan, Killoughey Badminton Clubman and Killina Presentation Secondary School Student has captured another Badminton All-Ireland title for Killoughey.

Eoghan, son of Tommy and Catherine Phelan, Mount Bolus, was named Badminton Ireland Young Volunteer of the Year for his work in Killoughey Club, Killina, and County Offaly.

Eoghan organised a badminton club in Killina, selected and entered nine school teams in the Offaly Badminton Blitz. Three of the teams qualified to represent Killina in the Leinster Finals Blitzes. The U-16 Girls and U-14 Girls, by four and three scores respectively, narrowly missed qualifying for the Leinster Final.

In Killoughey Club, Eoghan helps with supervision, coaching, and organising games with younger players on club nights. Eoghan was nominated by his PE teacher in Killina, Ms Majella Guest, and by Killoughey club coach, Ms Judy Bryant.
