St Mary’s see off Athy

ST Mary’s, Edenderry overcame the conditions and the challenge of Ard Scoil na Trionoide on Wednesday to advance to the quarter-final of the Leinster Colleges SF A Championship.

St Mary’s, Edenderry 2-6

Ard Scoil na Tríonóide 0-4

Two first half goals were key in what was an at times ill-tempered game which saw four yellow cards dihed out before the ball was even thrown in. The Athy school were reduced to 14 men after just four minutes while St Mary’s also finished with 14 men after Phipil Foy was shown a second yellow card.

St Mary’s lead by 2-5 to 0-2 at the break and while they only added one further point in the second-half, the victory was never in doubt.
