Official launch of Feile Peil na nOg

WITH Laois/Offaly’s hosting of Feile Peil na nOg a little over a month away the event will be officially launched in Portlaoise this Thursday, May 17 by GAA President Liam O’Neill.

The evening will commence at 6.30pm in the Heritage Hotel and all clubs are asked to bring along four U-14 players in their team kit for a photo opportunity. The launch will then commence at 7pm.

All clubs are asked to be have their Feile Co-ordinator, club officials and team management present at the launch also. The evening will include a question and answer session for the players with the celebrities. Following the launch refreshments will be served.

National School Visits this week

As part of the tradition of Feile in recent years, the schools in the host county are visited by well known GAA stars and personalities in the weeks before the event.

This week a number of schools in Laois & Offaly will host leading GAA celebrities who will speak to the children about the importance of Feile competition and what it meant for them to take part in it.

The list of schools being visited are as follows:

Wednesday, May 16 - Group One: Bracknagh, Walsh Island, Geashill, Ballinagar; Group Two: Edenderry BNS & GNS, Oaklands Edenderry, Clonbullogue; Group Three: Tubber, St Francis Boys Clara, Ballinamere, Durrow, Scoil Eoin Phoil, Group Four: Castlecuffe, Clonaslee, Rosenallis, Derrylamogue.

Thursday, May 17 - Group One: St Ciaran’s Clonmacnoise, Belmont, Cloghan, Lumcloon, Ferbane; Group Two: St Mary’s Sec Edenderry, Ballybryan, Rhode, Croghan; Group Three: Borris in Ossory, Knock, St Brendans NS Birr, Carrig, Coolderry; Group Four: Cloneyhurke, Cloneygowan, Killeigh, Gaelscoil Tullamore, Mucklagh
